Cheer Up Couture is an independent brand created by Patrick Burns. Patrick has a long-standing fascination with cheer uniforms: as fashion, as performance wear, as historical artifacts, and as pieces of cultural design.
Why start a uniform brand?
Look through enough cheer catalogs and you start seeing the same few templates over and over, in the same narrow run of sizes. Patrick wanted uniforms that felt considered and a little dramatic, carried real cheer heritage, and fit the people who actually cheer, including adult teams and bigger bodies.
So he started designing them. NOVA, the first major design family, builds a supernova star into the letter N and wraps its skirt yoke around the front and the back. Other designs pull from classic collegiate uniforms and bold, theatrical themes.
Why “Couture”?
It’s a statement of intent. The designs are meant to feel expressive and collectible, even when they’re built to a practical budget. The goal is uniforms that look far more expensive than they cost to make.
Built in the open
Cheer Up Couture is an emerging brand, and it doesn’t pretend otherwise. Some designs are renderings, some are being physically developed, and some are heading toward manufacturer sampling. Every design page shows its status, so you always know what’s real, what’s rendered, and what’s next.
Cheer history, too
Patrick is also developing Cheer Through the Years, a traveling exhibit about the history of cheer uniforms. The same love of old uniforms that drives the exhibit shows up in every Cheer Up Couture design.
